Slow loading email

You might try a forced-restart of your iPad - as doing so will often clear an isolated software issue:

• On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
• On other iPad models: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

For the benefit of other contributors that may be experiencing similar problems - and those (such as myself) trying to offer constructive assistance to others with this issue - please confirm some of your current system settings:

Settings > [Your Name / AppleID] iCloud > Private Relay >

Settings > Mail > Privacy Protection >

Settings > Safari > Hide IP Address >

Settings > WiFi > [Your WiFi Network / SSID] - tap the blue “i” icon -

If you are experiencing poor mail loading performance, try updating you Mail Privacy Protection settings. One element of this feature, if active, can add significant additional processing overhead during download of email from your email provider.

Settings > Mail > Privacy Protection > Protect Mail Activity - set to OFF

I tried turning off email protection, forced restarts, etc., unfortunately none of the recommended solutions helped. This problem started with the last few IOS UPDATES (last 14 to 15.5). As mentioned by other fellow users, my email is taking several minutes to load and will go blank and take several more minutes to reload whenever you use an email link to visit a website. This is extremely frustrating, especially when you need information from a previously downloaded email. This is happening on my iPad mini 5 with IOS 15.5. The other devices, an iPad mini 2 with IOS 12.5.5, iPhones XS & 12 both on IOS 15.5 are working fine. I tested theses devices with cellular turned off and the emails loaded alonf with attachments loaded really fast, so I know its not my wi-fi. Apple needs to address this issue quickly. I am hesitant to make an appointment with my local Apple Store because its a widespread problem and I don’t want to burden the techs there. Any other suggestions please.

I’ve tried deleting my ap, turning off, reinstating ap etc. not worked. Me email is full of people on the thread who keep commenting on the same thing but I haven’t read them all BECAUSE THEY TAKE TO LONG TO DOWNLOAD. Posted on Twitter, got an instant response to PM them and they would talk me though it. I declined because I never understand the language they us3 and get really stressed out. I told them it was their job to fix it not me, I didn’t get a reply. Seriously though, it’s a poor show and perhaps we should all shame Apple on Twitter.

I have tried all of the recommended steps to speed up the loading of my email. Nothing is working. This issue is only happening on my iPad Pro and not my iPhone. What can be done here please? It’s extremely frustrating and slowing down my ability to work. Thanks

Just upgraded my Mac to Monterey 12.6 and the problem seems to have been addressed. So, for all of you who have been experiencing very slow message loading while using Apple Mail, please do the latest upgrade.

I am experiencing the same issue on my iPhone XS Max (iOS 16.1) and on my iPad Pro M1 (iPadOS 16.1) and on my old iPad Pro (iPadOS 15.6) since 2021 when Apple provided iOS 15 and iPadOS 15.

But in every case, I noticed that this slowness happens only for newsletter mails and marketing mails.

So, I switched off privacy mail protection on all my devices but without any convincing result.

I think there is maybe a bug in the management of this setting preference.

As I need to receive such emails, I removed Mail from my devices and I am using Readdle Spark app waiting for a fix from Apple.

15.6 update still hasn’t fixed the problem. Apple are aware of this according to a reply I got via Twitter DM.

The latest software update yesterday has solved the blank screen that lasted for over a minute before emails started loading.

I have tried everything, but mail is still very slow to load on my iMac. I have no issues on my mobile devices.

Well, that lasted a few hours. This morning the same issue persists.
