i seem to have lost all music i ever purchased through itunes , why ?

so what has happened to all of my previous itunes purchased over the years

The items you have downloaded over the years are on the computer where you downloaded them, and any copies or backups that you have made.

If you are still using the same Apple ID, are in the same country, and the content is still available, you may be able to redownload fresh copies at no charge. Follow the steps in here:
