All of a sudden I cannot send iMessage to a non apple phone. My phone is set up to send and receive from 5 address and my Mac is set the same. Text message forwarding is set up properly. both phone and Mac re on the latest software and I'm using the same Apple ID on each.

I had recently changed my Apple ID password on my Ipad and it did not transfer over to the Mac. Signing out and then signing backing with the new password fixed the problem

You can set Messages to send as SMS to non Apple users if your wireless account is provisioned to allow SMS.
