Music

Hello, I’ve been screen recording for months and every time I do my music does play. I listen to music a lot and screen record a lot but my internal music doesn’t play. It goes silent, I’m not able to hear it in the background. I’m not sure why my music doesn’t play in the background of the video but it just doesn’t. I have friends who sometimes screen record what they’re trying to show me on their screen while texting and their music is blasting in the background. I’m at a loss on why my internal music doesn’t play but the audio does. How do I get my music to play in the background of my videos?

Aw, sorry.

I guess it's a content protection implementation.

Basically, you're dealing with DRM, Digital Rights Management. To prevent piracy the internal audio coming from Apple Music, YouTube or other streaming services is disabled in the recording.

In order to record sounds played on your Mac alongside a screen recording you can:

Set an Aggregate Device in Audio MIDI Setup and use it as an input audio source in QuickTime

Follow this Apple's guide to create an Aggregate Device:

Create an Aggregate Device to combine multiple audio interfaces - Apple Support

or

User third party software like Blackhole or Loopback

They route internal audio as an input which can be used by QuickTime:
