How do i turn on the message thing where i can text and still have the other contacts on the other side still

Assuming you mean this screen (picture taken from the Internet)...

...turn your iPhone sideways. It will automatically show the above layout.

If that's not what you mean, please post back with relevant information (and maybe an example picture, if you can find one).

I don't think your iPhone 13 Mini supports having the contacts on the side. Only some screen sizes have this functionality, and yours is too small (originally, only iPhone Plus versions supported this feature). Here's a comparison of screen sizes, with your iPhone on the left (iPhone 13 Mini) and mine on the right (iPhone 11).

I think that's a picture of an iPad screen. To the best of my knowledge, it doesn't work that way on an iPhone.

Interesting. I can't get it to work on my 11 Pro. So, a definitely a size thing.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I think it may have worked on the 7 Plus, my previous phone. I hated it because it seemed like it wasted screen space and there was no way to turn it off. But, to each their own.

I cannot get that to work on my iPhone 13 Pro either. My guess it is something about the Max size phones.

I've never had one of the Plus or Max phones, and I know that I've never seen that except on my iPad when in landscape mode. So I'm guessing between the two of us, we have figured this out.
