Connecting Apple Watch to iPhone

I just got a Apple Watch and I am trying to connect it to my phone but it keeps telling me to update my phone to the latest update but I already have and it still won’t connect what should I do?

iPhone XR, iOS 14

If the footer here is correct and that iPhone XR is running iOS 14, then you will want to update your iPhone to iOS 15.5 (current), and try again.

Then failing that…

If your Apple Watch isn't connected or paired with your iPhone - Apple Support

If that list fails to resolve this, you’ll want to check with Apple Support.
