I have an iPad (2021) 9th gen and an iPhone 13. I have made for iPhone hearing aids. I can get them to work with audio (podcasts) on either device but not with both devices. I thought the audio feed would go to the hearing aids from either device depending which one was producing audio and would automatically switch between them. Is there something that I am missing?
Under Accessibility/Hearing Devices/MFi Hearing Devices do you have Handoff turned on?

Audio Handoff only works for me personally about 50% of the time between iOS devices to my hearing aids. You also have to go to General/Airplay & Handoff and turn on Handoff. Here is a link that explains it with greater detail: Hand off tasks between iPhone and your other devices - Apple Support
Check and see if you missed any of the steps to make Handoff work better.
