Student Apple Music Subscription w/ free beats

It automatically gave me the free month trial, does that count as signing up for it to qualify for the free beats? Or does it need to be the first month paid and then qualify? I’m worried I won’t enjoy it.

You will only become eligible for the free Beats Flex earphones upon making your first monthly payment for your Apple Music student subscription (i.e., you will not become eligible during your free trial).
