Trying to Count Unchecked check boxes in Numbers

I know how to count unchecked boxes, and I know how to filter unchecked boxes. I am trying to get a formula to count the unchecked boxes. The count will either say 0 because it is counting the check box or it will count all the boxes checked or not. Is this even possible?



EDIT - I figured a way around it using Categories!

Categories is useful and an easy way of determining the number of unchecked boxes if those boxes are in a single column.


Here's a simple formula using COUNTIF that can count such boxes in columns or in rows:


…and can count the unchecked boxes in an array of cells:
