Mac Mail does not show recipient in sent mail

Just upgraded to Catalina. I have 20 years of sent mail in yearly mailboxes stored ON MY MAC. When you open one of the mailboxes all the mail appears BUT it does not show who it was sent to. Sent mail on server mail box will show recipient. Gone through all discussions and this has been an issue for years. If you add show TO , sort by TO, or try anything else still will not work. It seems that Catalina does not allow you to see who you sent the email to in any local mailbox view. Has anyone found a solution to this issue. Searched every forum and no luck.

It sounds like corruption of the com.apple.mail.plist file.

If you are using any optimizers such as Mackeeper, Advanced Mac Cleaner, or Zeobit or Macpaw utility, uninstall these, as these can damage both plist and cache files of important Apple applications. No optimizers should be used with Macs. You need to keep your system less than 85% full (an arbitrary value that has been found to work best), and not use any unnecessary memory resident applications to keep the system up to speed.

Etrecheck is a good utility for finding memory resident programs.

Is it that it doesn't show any To value? Are you sending to multiple recipients? Are you using BCC?

Apple's Mail auto-replaces email addresses with contacts who match email addresses in messages in Mail. If all you are seeing is the recipients name, that's where it pulls that information.

Does the same problem happen with Thunderbird or Spark? Both are great alternative email clients.

Thanks for the reply. It shows NO To value at all and I do not use Bcc. Until Catalina every mailbox would have a column with TO along with date, time, size and anything else I wanted to list. The Sent folder on the server will show TO but not once it is moved to ON MY MAC. As mentioned, this has been a discussion on various forums with no solution. Have not tried the other mail clients you mentioned. On my Mac Mail I use both iCloud and another email address.
