how to remove or restrict coreduetd

I have tried to remove this bloated and hungry app a number of times now. Each time I shut it down in the activity monitor, delete its folder and then try to empty the recycle bin, I am denied, saying the item is in use. Inside the coreduetd folder is a subfolder called Knowledge. If I click on this subfolder, I am denied access saying I don't have permission. I am the sole owner and admin of this iMac, so how is it possible to not have access to absolutely everything? When I right click that folder, it is not locked or in any way restricted. It just has a red circle with a white minus sign.

In the recycle bin, I renamed the coreduetd folder that was deleted, but when I go back into the ?var/db/folder, coreduetd is back. What is replacing it and where from?

I am logged in as the only user on my brand new M1 iMac and have this sort of thing to deal with, which I find simply not on. I have been extremely underwhelmed by this replacement to my old 27".

This coreduetd app has only started doing appearing in the last day or so

This app can often be showing 6 or 8Gb of memory and 98% cpu, which is unacceptable. I want it out, but it does not wish to leave.

Any help gladly accepted, as I have tried all the normal things to remove this pesky thing

coreduetd is an integral part of Handoff between Apple devices in close proximity.

It should not be running away like that. The fact that it is implies something is interfering with its function.

Try booting into Safe Mode, then restart normally. If it is something within the OS itself causing the issues, that might clean it up.

You cannot delete core parts of the operating system.

And, being the sole owner and admin doesn't really provide you with any special capability.
