Possible bug?

My 3 Apple TV's were working great - until I updated each of them to the current version (9/15/22).

Now each of them displays the same odd behavior:


When selecting a app from the AppleTV desktop, the app starts to open and then returns to the desktop.

Opening the app a second time (in succession) is always successful.

This happens on all three of my TV's since updating the software.

I most often use the YouTube and YoutubeTV apps.


Is this a known bug?

Try this for any misbehaving app:

  1. Force-quit the app(s), then relaunch and try again.
  2. If the issue persists, force-quit the app(s), restart the device, then relaunch and try again.
  3. If the issue still persists, delete the app(s), re-download and try again.
  4. If the issue still persists, then contact the app developer(s) for further assistance.

Unless someone else chimes in with a good idea, at this time I would suggest to contact an expert from the Apple Support staff for further assistance. Contact Apple for support and service (phone numbers) or start your support request online (chat/​email/​callback).
