iPhone 12 stuck on setup at country selection

Hi,

After numerous failed attempts to setup my new iPhone 12 (stalled), I now can’t get beyond selecting language and country. Then nothing happens, eventually the screen locks, and I start over with language and country.

I have tried the vol up + vol down + right side button with no luck - same situation.

What to do?

Also, will I need to install same iOS on my new phone as the old one (iOS 16) before setting it up? I have tried, but it’s failed several times.

Are you restoring from an iCloud backup or using another method to transfer your data? Take a look at the link below if your iPhone will not complete the update process to allow you to transfer your data.

Should you continue to have issues additional information about the update you're trying to install and the method of transferring data would be helpful.
