The third factor which may be almost equal to how old a Mac model is the amount of disk space available. Generally, 30-40 GB of free space is recommended but more space will allow the installer more room to shuffle things around.

It depends on your internet speed, but it'll take a lot more than 2 minutes; an "average" is probably between an hour and two hours.
