Can no longer control the volume on my Apple TV’s using the Apple TV remote (in Control Center)

After 15.6 or 7 not sure which, I can no longer control the volume on my Apple TV 4Ks using the Apple TV remote (in Control Center). This used to work fine. Now, the volume control slider is grayed out. Interestingly, the icon for turning volume off still works.

I assume this is an Apple bug, but am not 100% sure it couldn’t somehow be triggered by my other components — an LG OLED TV and a Bose 300 soundbar.

Has anyone else seen this? Should I report this to Apple as a bug?

This broke in tvOS 16 but there's a workaround. If you hold down the side button on the iPhone while using the Remote app to invoke Siri, the volume buttons will start working again.
