new and very annoying

Just got my first Apple Watch and it’s already making me mad. As I’m scrolling through the apps or selecting various settings it just returns to the watch face and I’ve to input my password again. I can’t find any settings as to lengthen the time before it returns to the watch face. Any ideas?
