Can I watch Apple TV on my 2012 Mac Pro?

MacBook Pro 2012 can run macOS Catalina, so it has the Apple TV app, to watch iTunes Store content, Apple TV+, and select other Apple TV app Channels.

Do I need hardware?

The Apple TV box can do much more, as it has an on-device App Store to install apps for e.g. many streaming services. Somewhat similar to iPhone and iPad, but meant for hooking up to a TV screen. Apple TV app vs. Apple TV box - Apple Community.

Alternatively, I expect that most of the streaming content providers (see below) also offer computer web access if you subscribe with them directly.

Does Apple TV include NHL Hockey Games?

The Apple TV+ streaming service does not include hockey games.

The Apple TV app does not include other channels that offer hockey.

Where to stream - NHL.com. The Apple TV box does have the mentioned sports apps available in its App Store. Those will require a separate subscription. US: ESPN+; CA: SN NOW; other countries: NHL.TV/Star+/ESPN/Viaplay.

The NHL app offers much information on games, but does not stream the televised games.
