OSVentura will not connect to HP printers

The HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 All-In-One Printer and HP ENVY 5530 e-All-In-One Printer series are listed in the October 26, 2022 US edition of About AirPrint - Apple Support. This means that both printers are supported by the driverless AirPrint technology, and can be used without additional drivers, provided that the printers and the Mac computer are connected to the same network (Wi-Fi router). An AirPrint-enabled printer is compatible with macOS 13 Ventura.

AirPrint works with wireless (Wi-Fi) or wired (Ethernet) network connections. Since the OfficeJet Pro 9010 has Ethernet, you could choose to wire it to one of the LAN ports of the Wi-Fi router instead of using a wireless printer connection.

Some HP printers need an HP Smart app for setup and ink-management purposes.

If there is a problem with AirPrint device discovery, you could try the following procedure (in this order, with these waiting times): Power off the Wi-Fi router, the printer(s), the Mac, and all other connected devices/computers. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the router. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the printer(s). Wait a minute or two. Power on the Mac. Finally, power on all other devices/computers

I’m having the same issue with my HP Office Jet Pro 6978. It was working fine until I upgraded my MacBook Pro software to Ventura 13.2. Now my printer can no longer be found or connected with my MacBook Pro. The HP Smart app can’t even troubleshoot it. What’s with these upgrades that cause more problems then benefit?

well it's hp who writes their printer drivers at times a new macOS require them to release a new driver, if hp don't wish to keep giving support for older models they will not release a driver rendering the printer useless for computers with a newer operating system, it's something you should always consider before updating your operating system and not just for printers

if you purchase a printer which support the generic printing protocol apple made called airprint then you will be less vulnerable to updates

This document is for HP AirPrint-compatible printers and macOS or iOS.

When printing from macOS or iOS, an Encryption Credentials Expired error displays and you are unable to print.

This error displays when the Embedded Web Server (EWS) has an expired certificate that is not accepted by the operating system. This certification is necessary to secure connections with AirPrint and Secure Internet Printing Protocol (IPPs).

To prevent the error, generate a new self-signed certificate from the EWS:

1. Enter the printer’s IP address in an internet browser address bar from any Windows desktop or notebook PC. The printer’s EWS opens.
2. For more information on how to open the EWS, see Using the Printer Embedded Web Server (EWS).

NOTE: You must perform these steps from the desktop view in the EWS. The mobile view of the EWS does not have the Certificates menu option.

1. In the EWS, click the Network tab.
2. Click the plus sign next to Security to expand the list, and then click Certificates.
3. Click Configure, select Create a New Self-Signed Certificate, and then click Next.
4. Click Finish. The printer generates a new certificate that defaults to 10 years from the valid date.

I am sorry you are having printer problems. If you will bear with me, I will offer some things to consider. Whenever we install an operating system upgrade or some OS updates, printers and scanners will often stop working. Then a new OS compliant printer software must be installed. Experience has shown that many printer manufacturers are very slow to provide updated drivers. Drivers for some older printers are never provided. What we can do is to thoroughly check the printer web site for an updated driver that works. If one is not available, then we should ask when one will be released. If that doesn't work, if the Printer has the Air Print feature, that can be used and no driver will be needed. If not, then you can check the respected web site below where volunteers write free drivers for older printers which are no longer supported, but which work with newer operating systems. It is worth checking out. Good luck.

Worked like a charm but one change is that when using it for Mac, "Certificates" is listed under "Security" on the left hand side.
