Software loses the ability to access folders.

I have a 2021 14" M1 Pro, Macbook Pro running macOS 12.6 'Monterey'. I work on the laptop throughout the day and due to that often leave certain applications open between opening and closing the lid and whatnot. Two of these that I use a lot and have therefore noticed the problem through are Firefox 107.0.1 (latest update as of writing), and Luminar Neo 1.5.1 (latest update as of writing).

Occasionally, after having been open for some time, generally with two or three rest or sleep periods these applications will not open the Finder window when trying to open or save a file. Restarting the application resolves the issue, but it is frequent enough to have become a real hassle. I still have an old mid-2012 13" i7 Macbook Pro running macOS 'Mojave' which never had this same issue or anything like it - although I am aware that it isn't a particularly good comparison being so old.

I suspect that there may be some sort of security setting potentially causing the issue as blocking folder access seems like it falls into that area, but I have not found a good reason for why it happens or even a reliable way of predicting when it will happen. It seems a little random, the only noticeable repetition being that the software has been running for five, six, seven hours at a time. I believe that it happens to both programs at the same time - so if one has stopped opening folders, the other will as well.

Does anyone know what is causing this? Does anyone have a solution to the problem? Am I simply missing some security setting?

Thank you in advance for any help you might provide.

Correction to above - I have just been working in Luminar Neo with no sleep/rest cycles, no closing the lid, whatever and I was able to open, edit and export several images, then suddenly I get to the point where I'm ready to export an image after editing and the 'Export to Disk' function doesn't open the Finder window allowing me to name and select a location for the export. this is the same thing that happens in Firefox. I can be uploading images to Instagram, Twitter, Flickr (doesn't matter where), and suddenly the 'select from computer' buttons don't open the Finder window to select a file. Once it happens in one piece of software, it definitely happens in the others as well. Closing and restarting editing software and browsers is not an acceptable solution to this problem.
