Why did my text size suddenly increase when I updated to iOS 16.1.2? This happened in text messages only.
I already went to Display and Brightness in Settings and moved slider to smallest, but it didn’t work, even after restarting.

Should have consulted my 14-year old to begin with! Kahiau told me to do the below, and it worked…
-open Control Center (swipe down from upper right hand corner of screen)
Check to see if Text Size(AA) is there:
yes? go to next step
no? go to Settings>Control Center, then
add Text Size(AA) to Control Center
-select a text thread within Messages, then open Control Center
-select the Text Size (AA) button
-at bottom of screen, choose ‘Messages Only’ on horizontal slider
-adjust the text size using vertical slider
Voilà! My texts are back to normal.

Did you try adjusting the text size after the hard boot on your iPhone?
I did. Still no joy.
Wouldn't you know it? For most iPhone issues I go to my grandkids first. They live on their phones. I just make calls, listen to audiobooks and do some texting. Glad you got it solved.
I’m usually pretty savvy about my iPhone, so my son will never let me forget he needed to help me!
Kids are definitely more adept at this.
