Display Issues on iPhone 10S

After dropping my phone on a very soft surface, I'm having some issues with the display, some of which I have figured out how to repair and others not so much. One is a very odd background color behind the app screens. It almost looks as though there is a very very faded photo that you can't make out behind them, but it just looks like a dirty blotch. I would like to have my lock screen photo behind the apps but cannot find instructions on how to accomplish that. A second weird thing is that in the middle of 5 screens worth of apps of normal (small) size, there is a screen with a bunch of apps that are large squares, one behind the other, for Notes, Podcasts, Weather, Music, App Store, Photos, etc. I cannot get rid of them or change them to the proper size and position where they used to be. I have looked at a bunch of items in Settings related to background and screen, but none of them seem to have appropriate options. I am using the iOS 16.1.2.

Good afternoon Hazel,

It sounds like you are describing the App Library which is a feature of the iOS (operating system) that can't be removed. If you have multiple pages after your Home screen, it should be the last page as you swipe right to left. Here are some resources that may help with this:

Hi Hazel Greenberg,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities.

We understand that after dropping your iPhone that the display is showing odd background colors and shapes. It sounds like there may be damage to the display, but there are few steps you can try.

1. Restart your iPhone or iPad.
2. Make sure your screen is clean and free of any debris or water.
3. Disconnect any Lightning or USB-C accessories. If your screen works after removing an accessory, try using a different socket, cable or charger.
4. Remove any cases or screen protectors.

These steps are found in If the screen isn't working on your iPhone or iPad.

You may need to seek service for iPhone. You can contact Apple for options or find nearby providers.

I probably should not have even mentioned dropping it. It was so soft a landing that there was not a bit of damage anywhere. It was a non-event. It might have been a coincidence that so many things seemed to go awry when I picked it up. I have managed to get most but not all of the anomalies back to normal. I have one remaining mystery that I would really love to solve. And it is hard to explain, but I am going to try anyway. In the midst of all the app icons there is a large square "icon" (about half the length of the phone) that is labeled App Store at the bottom. I have managed at least to get it to the end of the apps list so that it is less invasive. It appears to have several icons within it if I click in the center of the square or pull the square upward: App Store, Music, Weather, Calendar, Podcasts, Notes. All of these still have their icons in the original location as well. I would like get rid of this but cannot seem to find a way to do it. I have never seen anything remotely like this before.

No, it is not the App Library. It is a single square about 2.5 x 2.5 inches. If I tap on the page that is showing, it will open up into whatever that app is, e.g., Weather. But if I swipe up on the same pane, it will show another app, e.g., Calendar. It has within it only the apps I mentioned above, not every app I have on my phone. Why those particular apps, I have no idea. I have never seen this before. It is of no particular use, and it is in the way. I just want to delete it. Those apps are available to open elsewhere.
