iPad's Battery quickly drains after iOS 16.2 update

I've recently updated my iPad Pro to 16.2 iOS. Unfortunately the issue I am facing now is the battery of my iPad drains very quickly and automatically even if I am not using it.I play PUBG mobile and it used to give approx 3.5hrs battery time before the recent update, but now after update it just gives 1.5hrs hardly.

Is there any solution/software update fix available to resolve this problem or should I have to wait for the next update ?

Hi, just upgraded to version 7.1 and now my iPad is draining like crazy. I tried the full reset, no avail. These upgrades are going to cause people to stop using iPads. This is ridiculous. Please advise.

If you are experiencing unexpectedly high battery utilisation after performing a system software update - try a forced restart. The restart will often clean-up any stuck processes and clear any isolated software issues.

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.

Be aware that high CPU utilisation and graphics intensive games will always have negative impact upon achievable battery autonomy.

I also had a battery drain problem with my iPad a while back, and I followed this guide (Why is iPad Battery Draining So Fast) to do the following:

1. Turned off unnecessary background app refreshes.

2. Restarted the iPad to clear the cache.

3. Made sure all apps were updated to the latest versions.

These fixes really improved my battery life (from 2 hours to 3 hours). Maybe these will help you, and if you're still having serious battery drain issues, it's probably better to wait for Apple's next software update.
