WhatsApp Backup Not Working

Since about a week ago, WhatsApp is no longer backing up to iCloud - neither manually nor automatically. I have plenty of free space and am signed in. Have also tried multiple networks. I have tried various workarounds such as like toggling iCloud back for WhatsApp on and off, signing in and out of iCloud and also deleting and reinstalling WhatsApp. Anyone able to help or who has at least faced the same
