calculating elapsed time

I'm looking for a way to enter a start time and a stop time and have Numbers calculate the elapsed time. Thanks in advance.

Subtract start time from stop time:

In C2:

=B2−A2

You can format the times and the duration for elapsed time in the Cell pane on the right.

For a working example see the 'Sign In' table in the 'Employee Schedule' template at File > New in your menu.

If you need to convert the Duration result into a decimal value for further calculations then you can use one of the DUR2 functions. For explanations examples Search for them in Formulas and Functions Help under your Help menu.

To convert to decimal minutes in my simple example above you could use:

=DUR2MINUTES(B2−A2)
