Dictation icon

I have tried numerous ways to remove the dictation microphone icon from my desktop and nothing is working. Suggestions?

Could you please confirm where exactly you're seeing this on your desktop? Does it look to be a microphone symbol in a box?

If so, this may actually be Voice Control. This article can provide more info about that feature: Use Voice Control on your Mac

You can disable that in System Settings > Accessibility > Voice Control.
