My iPhone 12 stopped showing the field for the access code

Hi folks

suddenly my iPhone 12 stopped showing the field for acces code. It just showed the page with all the logos and I could start rightaway. After a while it started asking for acces code again. Why is this happening?

If you mean your iPhone passcode, if you have Face ID set up and enabled and the phone can “see” your face it will not prompt for a passcode; your biometric face scan unlocks your phone. Here are the situations where it will ask for a passcode:

The device has just been turned on or restarted.
The device hasn’t been unlocked for more than 48 hours.
The passcode hasn’t been used to unlock the device in the last six and a half days and Face ID hasn't unlocked the device in the last 4 hours.
The device has received a remote lock command.
After five unsuccessful attempts to match a face.
After initiating power off/Emergency SOS by pressing and holding either volume button and the side button simultaneously for 2 seconds.

So it has a life of its own. I sometimes change things in my iphone and do not know the consequences…..

glad to know that this is normal and can be explained. First thing I always think is: Hark! I have a hacker! But no. It is so full of possibilities that it only seems to have a will of it’s own….
