I am inferring you are both using the same Apple ID. He needs to get his own. Read the document Create an Apple ID for your child - Apple Support for how to do that.

The next stage can be pretty complicated and involves separating your content from his on his device (and ultimately your too). Let me know if I am correct about him needing his own ID and I can spend the time posting about it.
