Two step verification by phone while out of country

Just signed up for Apple TV, mainly to watch MLS. I will be out of the country in Europe, and it seems to sign in I will need two step verification via text message on my phone. I will be acquiring a sim card, with a different number. Is the only solution to go to settings and change my number temporarily?

You can add the new number as a temporary secondary, too.

To see, add, or change your trusted phone numbers:

  • On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Go to Settings > your name > Password & Security. Next to Trusted Phone Number, tap Edit.
  • Choose Apple menu  > System Settings (or System Preferences), then click your name (or Apple ID). Click Password & Security, then add or remove a trusted phone number.
  • Go to the Account Security section of appleid.apple.com.
