iCloud Advanced Data Protection Allow Access isn't

I have Advanced Data Protection enabled. Opened a browser to icloud.com. Got past 2FA login. Clicked Photos. Got expected prompt about allowing access via my device. All my devices lit up and dinged. On my phone I clicked "Allow Access". Almost immediately, icloud.com comes back with "Your device hasn’t given access to display your photos. Check that it is on and connected to the internet." But I just DID! And dvice was connected or it wouldn't have popped up the Allow Access prompt. Have repeated several times and with allowing access from iPhone or Mac. Also have tried with icloud.com session in Chrome on Windows or Safari on Mac. Always I "Allow Acess". Always icloud.com comes back with "Your device hasn’t given access to display your photos. Check that it is on and connected to the internet." Have tried signing out of icoloud.com in the browser session and back in as well.

This worked when I first set up ADP sometime back.

What's up with that?!?

Hi Dick Watson,

Thanks for contacting Apple Support Communities!

We understand that you're unable to access your Photos via iCloud.com as you're not able to complete the process of allowing access.

We would suggest that you reach out to Apple directly so that they can investigate this further with you. They can review your account details for you. You can reach them here: Contact Apple Support

Take care!

That means I can view photos in an icloud.com web browser session (Chrome web browser in the two cases I've tested today) on Windows and get past the "Advanced Data Protection Enable Access from your device" step that I could *not* get past the day I posted the OP. Yes, the PCs in question are running iCloud for Windows. But, FWIW, the day "Advanced Data Protection Enable Access from your device wouldn't work" from these same Windows Chrome browsers, it also wouldn't work from Safari on a most current MacOS MacBook Pro. So, I don't think iCloud for Windows was any part of the problem or solution.

(BTW, I just had icloud.com in a lacros browser on a ChromeOS Chromebook show me my photos after "Advanced Data Protection Enable Access from your device" as well. I don't think I even tried that the other day…)
