iOS update by mobile data

It is only possible to download iOS Updates wirelessly with 5G or WiFi. To be able to download iOS updates via 5G, you must have an iPhone 12 or newer.

You must also activate Allow More Data on 5G. This can be done here:

Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data Options → Data Mode → select Allow More Data on 5G

Alternatively, you can update from a computer.

Updating an iPhone Over Cellular:

Yes. It is possible, for certain devices. See my User Tip: Use an iPhone 12 or later, that is using 5G, in order to update over Cellular - User Tip
