How to connect SSD - external usbc drive for Macpro(2013) on thunderbold. What an adapter should i choose?

Hi guys.

Question / problem.

I bought an SSD drive and put it in a pocket with a USB-C 3.1 output (2nd gen)

I also bought a Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) - Thunderbold 2 (female socket) adapter and a Thunderbold2 cable that I connected to the computer.

The disk does not work in this mac and on the second one either. (on any thunderbold connector)

I will add that the same USB-C drive, I connected it to my macbook and it works fine.

So, how to connect SSD via thunderbold connectors to macapro 2013?

Many thanks.

A.

You can not connect it to the 2013 Mac’s Thunderbolt port. You connect it to the 2013 Mac using a high speed USB-A to USB-C adapter.

The Apple Thunderbolt-3 <-> Thunderbolt-2 adapter does to pass power in either direction.

There also appears to be some question whether that adapter supports non-ThunderBolt drives.

But an adapter from your Mac Pro 2013 USB-3 ports to the drive's USB-C ports should provide USB-3 speeds, which may not slow down your drive.
