when using website that sends a txt verification code it will go to my iphone but not my ipad. which typically not a big deal but sometimes forget my phone. i do get txt messages on it and send them and can start conversations but will never receive a verification code. it will do apple id verification but like ebenifits login and va healthcare website which i was trying to access will not..
If you have an iPhone - and both iPad and iPhone are signed-in to iCloud with the same AppleID - to receive (or send) SMS/MMS messages to or from your iPad, you must explicitly enable Text Message Forwarding for your iPad on your iPhone...
On your iPhone:
Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding - set to ON - and explicitly enable your iPad from the list of devices.
Also ensure that Messages in iCloud is enabled on both your iPhone and iPad:
Settings > [Your Name / AppleID] > Messages - set to ON

Your iPad will be able to send and receive messages using Apple’s proprietary iMessage service. SMS/MMS messaging, as used by many services to send verification codes, are a Cellular messaging feature - in this case, reliant upon your iPhone.
If the settings are not correct on the iPhone, you’ll not receive Cellular messaging on your iPad. Messaging and WiFi calling are configured independently of each other.
no I don't have my phone on me if I had my phone on me why would i care if i did not receive it on my iPad.. but the way you descried it i would not get txt messages at all and would not be able to make calls using my phone number with iPad
i do get txt messages I used it like 2 min ago to txt my wife. sent pictures talk to support through txt on some websites. does everything but verification codes
