ATV4 requiring 2FA to sign in to MGM+ app

I have intentionally not turned on 2FA for a variety of reasons. I have never had a problem signing in to an app on my ATV4s. EPIX is being rebranded as MGM+, and even though the EPIX app still works, I downloaded the MGM+ app so I could start using it instead. I have no trouble downloading the app, but when I try to sign on with my MGM+ login, the app says I cannot until I turn on Apple 2FA.

I don't know why that should make a difference when it only needs to verify my Xfinity login, not my Apple (since I am already signed on and verified when I downloaded). I also have Rokus, and I don't have this problem with those devices - when trying to sign in, I get the activation screen with the website and code and can log in.

So who do you think has added the Apple 2FA requirement - Apple or MGM? I haven't tried to download another app since there hasn't been another I needed, but the last one I did, not that long ago, didn't not have this obstacle. I wrote MGM, but they never answered.

Here's an update. A couple of weeks ago, I emailed MGM again, and they said it was Apple that was making them require 2FA to sign in to the new ATV app, and I should contact them, so I did. I called Apple Support, and the really-helpful rep not only did research, but contacted several other reps to ask what they new, including someone from the Media dept, where a 2FA requirement would be established. All of them said that it is NOT Apple. They do not require apps to enforce 2FA to log into the app. And if they did, it would be ALL apps on ALL devices, and not just this one app on the ATV. In fact, once you are logged into your ATV, no app should actually pay attention to that at all. They should only care about their own log in/activation. It's none of their business whether 2FA is used or not. SO, this is all MGM's doing.

So then I called MGM this time, and the rep kept saying it WAS Apple, and I kept telling her she was wrong, explaining everything I was told, and to pass the message to their developers so they can fix it and make it work like the EPIX app. Of course the rep probably didn't do anything. It's ridiculous that they are holding the use of my paid app hostage because I don't want to use 2FA (and don't even need to, according to Apple). At least I can use it on my Roku when I need to (or airplay).
