iCloud Drive not available in Numbers on iPhone

Numbers doesn't show iCloud Drive as a location to open and save files. This is a recent problem, just within the last few months. What's interesting, is that if I open Files and navigate to my Numbers folder, I can open my Numbers documents, edit and save them just fine. It can access the files, it's just not showing it as an available storage location. Numbers can also access my OneDrive account just fine.

Things I've checked or tried:

  • In Numbers editing the Locations list does not present iCloud as an option to enable. It is also missing from Settings -> Numbers -> Document Storage
  • In iCloud Drive settings, Numbers is enabled. I've tried toggling it to off and back to on.
  • I've tried removing Numbers, and then reinstalling it.
  • I've tried signing out of iCloud Drive, and then back in.
  • I've been through several restarts, and two updates since this began.

The issue appears to be a problem with Numbers, but I don't know how to make it see iCloud Drive again.

Ok. I’m back because I just figured it out:

Solution: Go to Files and click on the 3 dots in a circle at the top…….select ‘Edit Sidebar’

Turn on iCloud Drive. And eureka

As ever, easy when you know how 😅

Hi LumberJackShaw,

We'd like to share some suggestions to help with Numbers. You should be able to access this information as you mention which appears in the latest iOS just fine. We would recommend making sure to have the latest iOS by following Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

  1. "Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
  2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
  3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
  4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.

The Settings app on iPhone showing options to update to iOS 15.7 or iOS 16.

5.Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do."

If the device is updated, and this remains, you'll want to contact Apple Support so this can be further investigated.
