com.apple.appkit.xpc.open Not responding after upgrading to Catalina 10.15.7

The process com.apple.appkit.xpc.open crashes the I try to save a file from thunderbird and that blocks the keyboard too.

In "monitoraggio attività" I kill the process and everything restart to work.

I reset PRAM twice, but the problem persist.

Any solution?

Thanks

Remove all three versions of CleanMyMac.

Remove Norton.

Remove Cocktail.

Remove Funter.

Remove the torrent client.

I don’t know what WEJ2EEAS is, but it looks sketchy.

Whole lot of smart card stuff here, too.

I’d get Gatekeeper going again, too.

Read and write speeds aren’t all that great for an SSD, either. Whether that’s other apps installed, or an issue with the SSD?

Given the problem description and all that’s installed here and the torrent client and Gatekeeper disabled, I’d assume this system has some malware. Torrents have their place, certainly. Torrents are also a common source of malware for macOS. And torrents can provide substantial I/O loading and can saturate links and storage, when not correctly configured for local requirements.

Given all I see here, I’d back up, back up again, erase, and re-install. I’d leave the Gatekeeper built-in anti-malware enabled, migrate over files and documents and not apps, re-install current apps from known-good sources, and leave off the add-on cleaners and add-on anti-malware.

It may be wise to run SMART Utility to check the drives' health.

Download and run EtreCheck, and share the result to the clipboard. Then open a new reply here and then press the Additional Text button that looks like a printed page to get a text input box bing enough to paste the hardware and software configuration report here, and paste and post that report here.

PS: That "monitoraggio attività" reference is to the Activity Monitor app.
