Can I stop my iPhone from counting steps while cycling?

Can I stop iPhone from counting steps while cycling? If I do a bike ride it counts the calories and data from Strava but also thinks I’m walking and counts steps.

This is totally irritating when you are trying to get accurate details on daily activity. The only way around it is to manually delete the steps which is minute by minute and takes an age or leave your phone behind which is totally ridiculous. This needs addressing.

Hi stentor007,

Thank you for posting to Apple Support Communities.

If you have your iPhone with you at the time of exercise, it will track your movements in the Activity app. There isn't a way to disable this.
