Can you make iCloud photos private to certain devices?

I've been divorced for 2 years, and it would be pretty cool if there was a way to create a separate iCloud folder to mark private somehow. That way my new phone isn't always hitting me with old wedding and in-law photos but would still sync all the other photos. I wouldn't have to delete the old photos from the cloud, but they wouldn't be on my phone, and I could still have iCloud photos on to sync newly taken photos. If that even makes sense.
