I have around 86gb of photos in my 128gb iPhone and want to back up 50gb to the icloud so I purchased 50 gb data but now after purchasing the 50gb data it says I still can't upload it to the iclould because I don't have enough storage. So why?

No. Your device storage is fixed. iCloud storage is used to backup your device and to sync content, it is not additional storage for your phone. You can elect to optimize photos storage (settings - photos) which keeps full resolution images in iCloud and optimized versions on your phone to save space.

Yes its simple as you said. But my main problem is about me having a 128gb iphone which is now filled with 86gb of photos and videos and i have 5gb of icloud storage. I updated to 50gb thinking i will reduce 50gb data load from my 128 gb iphone. Got it ? I will be still having my internal storage for that right ? So why should i go for the higer plan?
