I can't enter my 6 digit passcode - no I havent forgot it. How can I get it to work?

I often press the power and one of the volume buttons by mistake when removing the phone from my pocket but would this cause the phone to not recognise the passcode? It is an iphone 12

iPhone 6s Plus, iOS 14

To unlock your iPhone, follow the steps described in the Apple article:

(< iOS 15.2) -> If you forgot your iPhone passcode

If you forgot your iPhone passcode - Apple Support

 

(iOS 15.2 and newer) -> If you see an iPhone or iPad unavailable message or Security Lockout screen

If you see an iPhone or iPad unavailable message or Security Lockout screen - Apple Support

An iPhone 6S does not have Face ID.


It does have Touch ID but, the OP may not have set that up or they are in one of the conditions where it will not work. It sounds as if they may have turned the device off. If that's the case, Touch ID will not work.
