I have attempted to use Find My, but I am unable to change the passcode—it only allows me to keep the same passcode.

My use case here is that I need to take my phone away from my child without having to physically wrestle them for it, and being able to remotely change the passcode is the most direct way to achieve this.

I really just want a command to brick the phone entirely.

I'm sorry to hear that your iPhone has been stolen. To protect your data and prevent unauthorized access to your device, you can remotely lock your iPhone using the "Find My" feature. Here's what you can do:

1. Use Another Apple Device with Find My:

If you have another Apple device (like an iPad or a friend's iPhone) with the Find My app, you can use it to lock your stolen iPhone.

  1. Open the Find My app on the other Apple device.
  2. Tap on the "Devices" tab at the bottom.
  3. Select your stolen iPhone from the list of devices.
  4. Tap on "Lost Mode."
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to set a passcode to lock your iPhone.
  6. You can also display a custom message with contact information on the lock screen if you wish.

2. Use Find My on iCloud.com:

If you don't have another Apple device with the Find My app, you can use iCloud.com on a computer or any web browser.

  1. Go to iCloud.com and sign in with your Apple ID.
  2. Click on "Find iPhone" or "Find My."
  3. Select your stolen iPhone from the list of devices.
  4. Click on "Lost Mode."
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to set a passcode and display a custom message on the lock screen.

3. Erase Your iPhone:

If you're concerned about the security of your data and don't think you'll be able to recover the device, you can remotely erase your iPhone using the Find My feature. Keep in mind that this action will permanently delete all data on the device, including photos, contacts, and apps. It's a last resort option to protect your information.

Follow the same steps as above to access your iPhone on the Find My app or iCloud.com, then select "Erase iPhone."

4. Report the Theft to the Police:

In addition to taking action to remotely lock or erase your iPhone, you should also report the theft to your local law enforcement. Provide them with all the necessary information about your stolen iPhone and any evidence you may have, such as the device's serial number or any tracking information from Find My.

After taking these steps, it's crucial to consider your personal safety. If you suspect that your stolen iPhone is in a dangerous or unsafe location, do not attempt to recover it on your own. Contact law enforcement and provide them with the relevant information to handle the situation appropriately.

I hope these steps help you protect your data and privacy. Remember to change your Apple ID password and other important account passwords as an additional security measure.
