how to check if a factory reset phone is locked ?

I did a factory reset on the phone so it is back to Welcome screen ready to start setting again. But it has been a year since I picked it up. How can I check if it is still locked, or can I use it for my son with another carrier?

Thank you,

iPhone XS Max

"You can find out if your iPhone is locked by going to Settings > General > About. If "No SIM restrictions" appears next to Carrier Lock, your iPhone is unlocked"
