My phone wont turn on

Go to Settings/Battery/Battery Health and read what it says. If there is a message saying the battery is degraded, or if the Maximum Capacity is below 80%, you need a new battery. Whether or not it is worth investing in a battery for an 8 year old phone is a personal decision.

They might mean randomly as in "it unexpectedly" stopped working

Um, they can't it's not turning on.

Or they can follow the advice posted by The Littles, and read again the Related Article they were reading when they posted here.

If you follow the instructions carefully, including charging the phone before doing a Forced Restart, your phone’s hardware has failed.
