Macbook Pro still online even after shut-down

My 2021 Macbook Pro is still connected to the internet when I close the lid, and also after I shut it down. Is that expected behavior?

If power to the internals has been cut by shutting down (as opposed to sleeping) , your Mac is offline. Power is required for all device operations.

What you may be seeing is a label ... a non active list of devices; a "holdover" of sorts. I suggest you restart your router (pull the power plug) restart it and retest.

Your router is a computer of sorts and old data does linger until cleared and that may not happen within the router as expected. Sometimes you just have to unplug it and restart: https://www.howtogeek.com/165110/do-i-really-have-to-unplug-my-cable-modem-for-at-least-10-seconds/
