Mac studio USB A ports not working

I purchased a Mac Studio a few days ago. Initially it was fine. Two days later peripherals connected to the USB A ports starting not being recognised or intermittently losing power (eg a Streamdeck controller flickered, USB hub not seen). I rang Apple support and they agreed to send a replacement which should arrive in a couple of days but I’m paranoid now given the number of cases of port failure I’ve discovered on the net. It does relieve me somewhat of any suspicion that something I did lead to the failure. Unlikely given the only change I made between it working and not working was to change the security settings to allow control over app extensions and reversing that made no difference.

Anyone else have similar experiences or advice? I’m now worried about connecting any peripherals to the replacement unit’s USB A ports, though both the Streamdeck and the powered USB hub I had had connected operated for years on a Mac mini and the first couple of days on the faulty Studio without issue.
