transfer ipod classic library to mac

my husband has an iPod classic with songs on it and his desktop MAC died out. We need to retrieve the songs from the iPod back to another computer.

You will need to buy a 3rd party software like touch copy or iamazing to transfer the music from ipod to the new computer.

See Recover media from an iPod - Apple Community. You can recover media using nothing more than Finder, but third party tools help if you want playlists, or your media doesn't contain embedded metadata.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll look into it. Disappointing that apple couldn't have made a patch themselves. I understand they're trying to keep people from stealing music, but this was not the case for us.
