Forum question

Hi there and excuse the newbie question as I’m not a frequent user of this forum but is it possible to look up posts by oneself? It helps a lot to have that functionality because some posts no longer get a reply after a certain period so if you run into the same issue you can ask again.

Posts will get locked for inactivity after a certain period of time. As most people who ask questions hre never come back weeks or months later to look for new responses, it is not productive for you to try to work old questions. Yes, they will be available for viewing but not new responses.

Internal search here is a bit convoluted so that is why Bob's excellent recommendation to use a search engine works. A site-delimited search restricts the returns to only those in Apple forums. For example, this search string:

Username +"username”+"2010" site:discussions.apple.com

will search only ASC for one user's post made in 2010.

Replace "username" that is in quotes with yours, but keep the quotes. If you do not need a date search, leave that part out. You can add a subject in the same way the year is added in the example:

Username +"username”+"reset NRVAM"+"2010" site:discussions.apple.com

Not sure what you mean. You can find posts you subscribed to or wrote by clicking on your username > Profile > Subscriptions. Or, you can use a google search. For example searching for apple support communities louschweiz found iMessage pop ups interference - Apple Community

Please be more specific regarding "is it possible to look up posts by oneself" means.

They do get locked quite early though..other forums usually wait 6 months to a year which I'd say is a fair amount of time. The reason why in my view I think that's less helpful is that there are so many countless posts you'll read where "Me too" is clicked it shows how many visitors could have been helped more were the post still active.

I agree though posts can become unwieldy when left open too long but the discussion in it can still be useful to someone.
