Apple iPod 2nd generation can’t talk on the phone

Is it only me that can’t actually use iPod 2nd generation for talking or is it the iPods itself? People complain that they don’t hear me if I talk with iPods. So I paid this great amount of money and I can’t even talk with Bluetooth headphones. I also recorded my voice with them to see how they hear me, and I can’t hear myself either. So much background noise. Is there any fix I can do to use them hands free for phone calls?
