Can I use Apple Books to set up a manuscript and then save it as a PDF to be used elsewhere

To set up a manuscript you need to use a Word Processor like Pages or Word. Apple Books is a system for publishing ebooks after you already have a manuscript. It does not accept pdf, only epub.
