Using phone keypad with Phonak hearing Aids

Hi i have paired my Phonak hearing aids through Bluetooth on my iPhone 13. I receive calls through my hearing aids, however when I touch the keypad to respond to a request to press an option this feature doesn't work. Any ideas on a workaround? Thank you.

I can confirm this problem with Oticon hearing aids and iPhone 15. This problem has been driving me crazy for months since upgrading to iPhone 15. I could not access my voice mail because the phone tree kept saying that the passcode was incorrect. The voice mail carrier was able to prove to my satisfaction that the problem was not on their end. Called AT&T, then Apple. No luck.

This morning, before I put my hearing aids on, I had the crazy idea to try accessing my voice mail without my hearing aids on. Holy cow, it worked! And when I put my hearing aids on and then tried again, the problem returned.

Apple should fix this. But until then, rjfedora's workaround works!

To get this right: when you call using a hearing aid when you want to press a menu option this does not work? This is very weird becuase this cannot have anything to do with hearing aids for as far as I know

Try to restart the phone to see if the issues persist, you can also try when you’re calling, go to the audio logo, and select “iPhone” instead of your hearing aids. Then you can see if the issue persist when your sound is not routed by Bluetooth to your hearing aids

I have the same problem with Oticon hearing aids. Specifically, when I call a number and get a prompt while listening thru my hearing aids, the keypad does not register. I don’t hear the key pad tones in my hearing aid, and the key strokes do not register with the system I’m engaged with.

Huge problem since most company’s, credit card companies, doctors offices, online brokers and retail stores all have system prompts to get thru before reaching a real person. It’s a HUGE issue for people w/ disabilities. Something Apple should consider. This is not a carrier issue, nor is it a system issue. It’s an iPhone (Apple) issue, since the keypad works just fine if not connected to hearing aids.

Although unlikely, the problem may be unique to hearing aids made by William Diamant Holding (Oticon, Bernafon, Philips). When using my iPhone with Philips hearing aids, the keypad doesn't work. It doesn't make any sound when I press the keys, and I keep getting responses like "I didn't get that". Switching to Speaker or iPhone, the keypad does sound and my responses are understood.
