Mac password reset

I want to reset my password. I sign in with icloud. Receive otp and then nothing. It says " Icloud account unable to unlock this volume". Such a piece of **** product. Been an issue for more than 12 days of not being able to use my Mac. Support is utterly useless

If you forgot your Mac login password - Apple Support describes what to do, including options If you can't reset your Mac login password.

Follow all those steps all the way through to the end.
